About Campaign
Father Arcadio Sicher, an Italian Franciscan monk, founded the City of God humanitarian centre in 2002 to carry out his mission in Old Fadama, the largest slum in Ghana. The centre is managed by Father Subash Chittilappilly of the Missionaries of Charity since 2013. The preschool and the evening school for adults are managed through external donations. GIWA has been closely following and supporting the activities of Father Subash and increased its financial support in 2022 for educational activities and dining expenses, as the number of children rose from 71 to 74. In addition, GIWA facilitated the meeting between Father Subash and the General Manager of the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, Deborah Sivertsen, resulting in various donations to the City of God. These donations included a large collection of food and drink products organized by the hotel staff and an Easter party for the children, which was held in the hotel garden with games, competitions, dances, readings, songs and a wonderful lunch together. The Italian Ambassador in Ghana and Togo also visited the City of God humanitarian centre in February 2022, accompanied by GIWA.
